Bauer, Hinnant And Julot All Excel At Hopkins Loyola Invitational For Goucher Track And Field
BALTIMORE, Md. – Darby Bauer (Perkiomenville, Pa./Boyertown Area) and Brandon Julot (Baltimore, Md./The SEED School of Maryland) both registered a Top-5 finish in the throws at the Hopkins Loyola Invitational on Friday.
Bauer, the current Landmark Conference Field Athlete of the Week, had two more tosses over 40.00m in the event. He had a 41.07m throw in his second attempt for his then third-best throw in team history in the last two weeks. The junior then bested that throw and his second-best attempt (41.17m) from the Battlefield Relays on April 5 with a hurl of 41.57m on his third attempt for his best throw of the day to finish fourth overall and third among Division III competitors. He now has the Top-5 throws in the hammer in program history.
Bauer also placed eighth in the discus and fifth among Division III athletes in the discus with a toss of 33.40m.
Julot finished third in the shot put with a chuck of 11.37m on his first attempt. The junior also tossed 11.19m and 11.24m on his fourth and fifth attempts, but his first try was his best throw on the afternoon in the shot put.
Julot also placed right behind Bauer in the discus with a ninth-place standing and sixth-best finish among Division III athletes with a throw of 32.05m. He also finished 14th in the hammer with a throw of 25.02m.
If there were only NCAA Division III teams at the event, Mikayla Hinnant (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) would have posted three Top-10 finishes. She finished 10th overall and sixth among Division III teams in the shot put with a throw of 9.68m. Hinnant had a personal-best chuck of 27.77m to finish 15th overall and eighth among Division III while she had her second-best throw in the discus to place 13th overall and ninth among Division III.
The rest of the track and field team returns to action on Saturday at the Messiah Invitational.
