NEW ORLEANS, La. — Goucher's men's cross country program is
being recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country
Coaches Association for the academic accomplishments of its
student-athletes in 2008.
The USTFCCCA announced today that Goucher is on a list of 103
Division III cross country programs nationwide that have qualified
for the organization's All-Academic Team Award which honors those
programs in which the entire active roster attains a 3.10 or higher
grade point average. The combined GPA of the runners on Goucher's
men's cross country team in the fall was 3.27.
During the 15 years John Caslin has been the head coach of
Goucher's cross country programs, his squads have earned a total of
20 All-Academic Team Awards — 10 by the women and now an
equal number by the men.
Goucher is one of only two schools in the Landmark Conference from
which the men's cross country program qualified for the
All-Academic Team Award in 2008.
