BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Just as he was a year ago when he was a
freshman, Joey Negreann (Englewood, Colo./Cherry
Creek) was Goucher's top performer today at the NCAA
Division III Mid-East Regional.
Negreann completed the 8,000-meter race in 27:10.9, good for 85th
place. He's the first Goucher runner to place among the top 100

the Gophers in 2003.
The next runners from Goucher to come in after Negreann were senior Zach Martin (Victor, N.Y./Victor Central) in 134th place and junior Adam Scipione (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) in 192nd. Martin was clocked at 27:45.3 and Scipione at 28:54.0. Nick Manta (North Wales, Pa./Abington Friends School), the lone freshmen to run in the meet for the Gophers, placed 252nd overall with a time of 30:25.1.
Runners from Allegheny placed 1-2 in the race: Chris Marker crossed the finish line in 24:54.3, exactly six seconds before Jeramie Parker, the runnerup.
A total of 314 runners completed the race.
In the team scoring, Allegheny was first with 59 points and Carnegie Mellon was second with 69. Out of 45 teams which had the minumum five runners, Goucher placed 32nd with a score of 931 points.
