MADISON, N.J. — Goucher produced the male cross country runner chosen as last week's top performer in the Landmark Conference.
The conference, now in its fifth year of existence, named nine Players of the Week today for Sept. 12-18. In the sport of men's cross country, the honor went to senior Joey Negreann (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek).
Of the 97 runners who competed in the Coach Achtzehn Classic on Saturday, Negreann was the first to cross the finish line. He was clocked at 26:35.90, which is the 20th-fastest time for an 8,000-meter race in the history of Goucher's cross country program. It also gave him a more than 11-second victory over the runner-up, Tim Hartung from York.
