Negreann Cracks Top 10 in Long Course at Dickinson
NEWVILLE, Pa. — Goucher's Joey Negreann (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek) placed eighth in a field of 184 runners in the standard 8,000-meter race at today's Dickinson Long-Short Invitational.
Ziegler Crosses Finish Line First for Goucher in Shorter Course
NEWVILLE, Pa. — Goucher's Joey Negreann (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek) placed eighth in a field of 184 runners in the standard 8,000-meter race at today's Dickinson Long-Short Invitational.
The junior completed the race over the rain-soaked course in 27:19. Among the runners who finished ahead of him were the individual champion, Jacob Phillips from Swarthmore, who recorded a winning time of 26:37, and Tom Rhodes, a Dickinson graduate who is now an assistant on head coach John Caslin's staff at Goucher. Rhodes placed sixth overall (26:58).
In the shorter 4,000-meter race, which was won by Dickinson's Dylan Straughan in 12:35, Goucher's top performer was Gillian Ziegler (Chestnut Ridge, N.Y./Green Meadow Waldorf School) in 132nd place (15:26).
The Gophers received a score of 179 points in the long course, good for 17th place. After Negreann, Goucher's next two runners were Nick Manta (North Wales, Pa./Abington Friends School) in 131st place (30:44) and Hugh Geller (Devens, Mass./Francis W. Parker Charter Essential School) in 151st (32:02).
In the short course, Zachary Byrum (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) placed three spots behind Ziegler in 135th place (15:34) and Andrew Gethins (Yorktown, N.Y./Lakeland) was 140th (15:43) as the Gophers earned a score of 255 points to finish in 20th place.
In the overall team scoring, Goucher was 15th with 434 points.
