Three Runners Represent Goucher at Baltimore Metro Meet

Clair Finishes Ahead of Manta, Byrum in 33rd Place
COCKEYSVILLE, Md. — Goucher entered three runners in the season-opening Baltimore Metro Meet, conducted today at Oregon Ridge Park.
The top performer for the Gophers was freshman Joshua Clair (Ardmore, Pa./Haverford), who placed 33rd overall among the 55 runners who completed the 5,000-meter race. Clair's time was 18:07.94.
Senior Nick Manta (North Wales, Pa./Abington Friends School) finished three spots behind Clair in 36th place (18:43.35) and sophomore Zachary Byrum (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) followed in 41st place (19:24.94).
Johns Hopkins took the team title, posting a perfect score of 15. Not only did the Blue Jays produce the top five finishers in the race, they also had the next 12 runners to cross the finish line before Chris Jones from McDaniel did in 18th place.
Hood was second in the team scoring with 69 points. With only three runners, Goucher did not receive a team score.
