Freshman Runs Fastest 6K in Program History

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Freshman Anthony Lee ran the fastest 6,000-meter race in the history of Goucher's men's cross country program to finish in a tie for 27th place at the Catholic Invitational, which was conducted today on the grounds of the U.S. Soldiers' & Airmen's Home.

Only nine Division III runners posted times faster than Lee, who was awarded the exact same time as a Division I runner, Ian Lutz from American. Nicholas Regan from American was the individual champion as he completed the race in 19:05.4.

The top Division III runner was Nate Alter (20:00.0) from Juniata in 10th place overall.

The next two Goucher runners to cross the finish line after Lee were Isaac Jennings in 42nd place and Hugh Geller four spots back in the 46th position. Jennings was clocked at 22:07.8 and Geller at 22:31.4.

The final two runners who figured in Goucher's team score were Liam Lanahan (22:55.9) in 50th place and Troy Browne (23:03.8) in 52nd.

The Gophers finished in seventh place with a team score of 173 points. Three other Landmark Conference schools competed in the event: Juniata placed third with 85 points, Moravian (116) was fifth and Catholic (151) sixth.

American, which produced the top four individual finishers, took first place with a near-perfect team score of 17 points.
