NEWVILLE, Pa. — Goucher earned a team score of 139 points in the 4,000-meter race at today's Dickinson Long/Short Invitational thanks to the efforts of sophomore Isaac Jennings (Narberth, Pa./Harriton) and two of his teammates.
Jennings crossed the finish line in 45th place as he completed the shorter of the two races in 13:23.5, which is a new school record for a 4K. The former record of 13:56.2 was established back in 2001 by Will Morrison.
Goucher's next two finishers placed 79th and 87th overall in the field of 139 runners: senior Troy Browne (Springdale, Md./C.H. Flowers) was clocked at 14:13.8 and freshman Joe DiPiazza (York, Pa./York Catholic) at 14:20.6.
The first runner to come in was Brayden Burleigh from Shippensburg, who turned in a time of 12:04.7.
With the team score of 139 points, the Gophers finished in 13th place out of the 20 teams that had at least three runners entered in the shorter race.
