NEWVILLE, Pa. — A freshman posted the 13th-fastest time for a 4,000-meter race in the history of Goucher's men's cross country program today at the Dickinson Long/Short Invitational.
Griffin Stein (Westport, Conn./Staples) completed the shorter of the two races in 14:37.04, good for 184th place in a field of 260 runners. Also running the shorter race for the Gophers were Zachary Byrum (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point), who placed 209th overall with his time of 15:17.71, Dietrich Pultinas (Roxbury, Mass./Brimmer and May School) in 222nd place (15:36.14), and Collin Clarkin-Wright (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) in 249th (17:53.72).
Goucher earned a score of 389 points in the short race for 31st place. Because the Gophers entered only one runner in the 8,000-meter race, they failed to score in that event and were not awarded an overall team score.
In the longer race, Isaac Jennings (Narberth, Pa./Harriton) placed 167th in a field of 233 runners with a time of 30:52.24.
The next time the Gophers compete will be October 4 at the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pa.
