Byrum Runs Fourth-Fastest 4K Race in Program History

Zachary Byrum (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) was the first Goucher runner to cross the finish line in the 4,000-meter race as he placed 14th overall in a field of 33 runners. Byrum's time of 13:59.0 is the fourth-fastest in the history of the school's men's cross country program for a race of that distance.
Liam Lanahan (Corvallis, Ore./Crescent Valley), Griffin Stein (Westport, Conn./Staples) and Dietrich Pultinas (Roxbury, Mass./Brimmer and May School) completed the race within less than 17 seconds of one another. Lanahan was clocked at 14:48.6, good for 21st place. Stein followed in 22nd place (15:03.0) and Pultinas was next in 23rd place (15:15.5).
Richard Decker (Voorheesville, N.Y./Clayton A. Bouton) placed 25th as he turned in a time of 15:41.5.
The individual champion was Chris Jones from McDaniel, who posted a time of 12:50.8.
The Green Terror captured the team title by placing their top five runners among the top seven finishers to earn a score of 17 points. The Blue Jays were second with 39 points, the Mustangs third with 79 and the Gophers fourth with 99.
