Senior Leads Way for Gophers at Landmark Meet

TOWSON, Md. — The only senior on the roster was the top performer for Goucher this morning at the 2014 Landmark Conference Cross Country Championships.
The 8,000-meter race conducted on Goucher's campus drew a field of 79 runners. The first entrant to cross the finish line was Dan Gresh from Elizabethtown, who was clocked at 26:22.77. The runner-up was Dillon Farrell from Moravian, the two-time defending champion, who turned in a time of 26:31.06.
For Goucher, Zachary Byrum (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) placed 53rd overall as he completed the race in 29:58.69. Then came freshman Griffin Stein (Westport, Conn./Staples) and junior Issac Jennings (Narberth, Pa./Harriton) in 66th and 68th place, respectively, with Stein recording a time of 30:57.86 and Jennings 31:14.80.
The final two runners who helped determine the team score of 247 points that landed head coach John Caslin's Gophers in eighth place were sophomore Liam Lanahan (Corvallis, Ore./Crescent Valley) in 73rd place (32:09.50) and freshman Dietrich Pultinas (Roxbury, Mass./Brimmer and May School) in 75th (32:47.09).
An undetermined number of runners will represent Goucher on November 15 at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional in Newville, Pa.
