O'Flaherty, 11 Other Freshmen Populate Race's Top 20

O'Flaherty, one of 12 freshmen among the top 20 collegiate finishers, completed the 8,000-meter race in 30:57.62.
Gallaudet's Otto Kingstedt was the individual champion. His winning time was 27:35.23.
After O'Flaherty, Goucher's next three runners were Liam Lanahan (Corvallis, Ore./Crescent Valley) in 24th place (32:32.22), Isaac Jennings (Narberth, Pa./Harriton) in 28th place (33:07.13) and Collin Clarkin-Wright (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) in 30th (33:22.94).
Goucher's No. 5 runner today was Wondemneh Pawlose (Addis Ababa, Ethiopia/The Khabele School), who was clocked at 36:59.36 in his first collegiate race, good for 41st place.
In the team scoring, the Gophers placed fifth with a score of 113 points. They were two points behind Southern Maryland.
Goucher will compete next Saturday at the St. Joseph's (L.I.) Invitational in Kings Park, N.Y., the site of the 2015 Landamrk Conference Championship on October 31.
