Men's Cross Country Earns Fourth at Baltimore Metro Meet
Sept. 1 – OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Led by the strength of their freshman class, the Goucher College men’s cross country team posted a fourth-place finish at the Baltimore Metro Meet on Thursday afternoon. In all, four of the Gophers’ top-five finishers were first-year athletes.

The Gophers finished the meet with 114 total points, paced by a 38th-place finish from first-year runner JaVaunte Neumann. Neumann crossed the finish line with a time of 13:56.4, the third-fastest time ever ran by a Goucher runner in a 4k meet.
Just behind Neumann was fellow first year Jason Higginbotham, who crossed the line with a total time of 14:46.3. Joel Nadler then followed in 49th place with a mark of 15:07.8, with the top five being completed by sophomore Sean O'Flaherty (15:26.6) and Justin Coggeshall (16:59.8).
Overall, the individual winner of the race was Louis Levine of Johns Hopkins University, who finished with time of 12:48.8. The Blue Jays, who were ranked 20th in the USTFCCCA Preseason Coaches' Poll, captured all of the top seven spots in the race, earning the team victory as well.
The Gophers will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 10 as they head back to Stevenson University to take part in the Shannon Henretty Invitational. The day's events are scheduled for an 11:30 a.m. start.
