HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Goucher College cross country raced at the Juniata College Invitational and posted multiple top opening times.
On a course that was described as "very difficult" by head coach John Caslin, the Gophers had a strong day overall at the Standing Stone Golf Course. The majority of the Landmark Conference was present at the event. Only Elizabethtown and Scranton were not present.
On the men's side, senior Clay Berg (Pittsboro, N.C.) finished with a time of 31:42.20 and junior Sean O'Flaherty (Hinsdale, Ill.) finished 32:32.20. Both were challenged via the topography of the course but were able to get a good look at where the Landmark Conference Championships will be held.
For the women, both senior Soliana Goldrich (Austin, Texas) and junior Kelly Johnson (Wayne, Pa.) had their best opening times in their careers with times of 27:08.20 and 28:46.30. Goldrich finished 16th out of 58. First-year Eva Bulson-Lewis (Minneapolis, Minn.) finished with a time of 28:35.70. These three Gophers finished within the top 27.
As a team, the Gophers finished 6th overall with an average time of 29:15.00.
The Gophers travel to Shenandoah on September 23rd for the Harrier Invitational that begins at 9:30 a.m.
