The 11th Landmark Conference Cross Country Championships were hosted today by Juniata College at Standing Stone Golf Club in Huntingdon, Pa.
The Gopher's were led by Senior Clay Berg (Pittsboro, N.C.), who finished in 29th place (29:47.26) overall. Berg, who for the first third of the race ran in the top 5 runners, bettered his time by 2:00 minutes from when the Gophers competed on this challenging, hilly course in September.
Also competing for the Gophers were first-year runners Paul Vasquez (Rockville, Md.) who finished in 69th place (35:04.18) and Nathaniel Bacon (Pottstown, Pa.) who placed 70th (37:37.51) overall. The shorthanded Goucher runners did not have five runners and therefore were not able to register a team score.
Elizabethtown and Juniata tied for 1st overall, with Elizabethtown getting the nod to the NCAA Championships based on the tie-breaker.
Selected members of the men's team will compete in two weeks at the NCAA Mid East Regional in Carlisle, Pa.
