CARLISLE, Pa. - The Goucher Men's Cross Country team ended their 2017 season today running at the NCAA Mid East Regional Meet hosted by Dickinson College and run at Big Springs High School.
Senior Clay Berg (Pittsboro, N.C.) led the Gopher squad - just as he has all season - with a personal best time of 28:28.7. Berg's time today is almost:10 seconds faster than his previous time on the same course earlier in the season and his performance left him just outside the Goucher Top 100 times list for male runners at the distance of 8000 meters.
Also competing for the Gopher's were first-year runners Paul Vasquez (Rockville, Md.) who finished in a time of 35:09.5 put him in 344th place. Classmate Max Levy (Friends School, Md) ran a time of 43:43.9 and finished in 363rd place. For Levy, it was his first opportunity to race this season as he has been rehabbing a stress fracture that occurred during training over the summer.
Over 58 division III competed in Carlisle today with bids to the NCAA Championship on the line. The Division III Championship meet will take place next weekend. By virtue of their finish, today, Haverford College and Carnegie Melon University will receive automatic bids, with at-large spots being announced by the NCAA on Monday.
