TOWSON, Md. — The Landmark Conference released its postseason swimming awards this morning, with Goucher’s Morgan Richter (Cleburne, Texas/Cleburne) and Nicole Craver (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove Area) each earning All-Landmark recognition for their performance at the conference championships last weekend.
Richter was named first-team All-Landmark after wins in both the 100-yard butterfly and the 200 fly. Both first place times set new school records, while his mark of 1:54.23 in the 200 fly broke his own pool and meet records at the Marywood Aquatics Center, records which he established during his 200 fly victory as a freshman.
The conference accolades caps a memorable weekend which saw Richter break four individual school records. In addition to the 100 and 200 fly, he also set new top times in the 200 and 500 freestyle, and he was a part of two additional relay teams (the 800 free relay and the 400 medley relay) which broke Goucher records. Overall, the men’s team established nine new top times at the conference championships.
Craver received second-team All-Landmark accolades with her second place result in the 400 individual medley. She posted a new personal best time of 4:47.31, becoming the first female swimmer at Goucher to make all-conference since Britt Hogstrom (first team) and Lindsey Phillipson-Weiner (second team) accomplished the feat in 2010. Craver also had a strong showing in the 200 IM, placing fifth with a new personal best time of 2:15.25.
Merchant Marine’s Kevin Lindgren was named Men’s Swimmer of the Year by the conference office after helping lead the Mariners to a seventh-straight Landmark title. Guido Saccaggi from Catholic earned Rookie of the Year recognition, while Greg Brown (Marywood) and Sean Tedesco (Merchant Marine) shared Coach of the Year accolades.
On the women’s side, Catholic’s Joanna Ladas and Julia Wisler split the Swimmer of the Year award. The Cardinals, who finished third behind conference champions Susquehanna and Scranton, respectively, received all four major swimming honors, with Christine Loughery named the top rookie and Paul Waas recognized as the top coach.
