TOWSON, Md. — For the 28th-consecutive semester, a streak which has now lasted for well over a decade, Goucher’s men’s and women’s athletic programs have combined to register a grade-point average of over 3.0.
This past fall, Goucher’s 19 teams collectively recorded a 3.12 GPA, highlighted by the equestrian team’s athletic department-high GPA of 3.50. A total of 14 teams earned a GPA of over 3.0 for the semester.
“We take pride in committing ourselves to excellence in everything that we do,” athletic director Geoff Miller said. “I’m so proud of the students, because this shows that they truly do care about being great students in addition to performing well in their respective sports.”
Among women’s team sports, cross country (3.31) finished with the highest grade-point average for the fourth time in the last five semesters, while men’s tennis (3.36) registered the highest GPA on the men’s side. Men’s swimming saw the highest rise among the 19 programs, going from a 2.89 last spring to a 3.05 in the fall.
The Goucher athletic department has now had a collective GPA over 3.0 in every semester since the fall of 1999.
“Our coaches reinforce the importance of doing well in the classroom,” Miller concluded. “We’re all really proud of the students, and we know how much work goes into this accomplishment.”
