Goucher Track & Field Athlete Darby Bauer Named A Landmark Conference Athlete Of The Week
BALTIMORE, Md. - Darby Bauer (Perkiomenville, Pa./Boyertown Area), a member of the Goucher College men's track and field team, has been named a Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week.
With the unprecedented cancellation of spring sports due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Landmark will be recognizing an athlete from each member institution in each conference-sponsored spring sport for the remainder of the academic year. Honorees were nominated for recognition by their respective institution.
Bauer has finished in the Top-10 seven times at the Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships in his career. He set a school record in the discus at the outdoor championships with a hurl of 38.81 to notch his highest finish at the championships in his career with a fifth-place standing in 2019. He also established a program-record throw in the hammer and was the first Gopher to throw 40 meters to break the school record by 13 feet with a toss of 42.36m at the Battlefield Relays and earned Landmark Conference Field Athlete of the Week in his junior campaign.
He also placed in the Top-10 three times at the Landmark Conference Indoor Championships in his career. The season was cancelled due to COVID-19 before the Gophers could start the outdoor season so Bauer's last collegiate competition was at the Landmark Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on February 29. He finished 12th in the shot put and 11th in the weight throw with distances of 10.98m and 12.08m, respectively.
