Tanise Thornton-Flllyaw Honored by Landmark Conference
TOWSON, Md. - Goucher College women's track and field first year Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw (Bethesda, Md./Cheverly STEM Education Center) was named the Landmark Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Track Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Thornton-Fillyaw set a pair of school records as the Gophers opened the season at the TCNJ Indoor Open at the famed 168th Street Armory in New York City. She took home first place in the 1000 with a program-record time of 3:20.22, while in the 600 Thornton-Fillyaw placed second with a mark of 1:39.13, shattering the previous mark by over 22 seconds.
Thornton-Fillyaw is coming off a rookie cross country campaign that saw her finish 24th at the Landmark Conference Cross Country Championships.
The Goucher indoor track and field teams return to action on Friday, January 13 at Lebanon Valley.
