Thornton-Fillyaw Named Women's Track Athlete of the Week by Landmark
TOWSON, Md. - First year Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw (Adelphi, Md./Cheverly STEM Education Center) of the Goucher College women's track and field team was named the Landmark Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. It marks the second time of the season Thornton-Fillyaw has been honored.
Thornton-Fillyaw opened her outdoor season on Sunday with two first place finishes as the Gophers hosted the Blue and Gold Classic. She finished first in the 800 with a time of 2:32.45, while in the 1500 she took the top spot with a time of 5:01.43.
Thornton-Fillyaw is coming off a rookie indoor campaign that saw her honored as the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year after winning the 800 at the conference championship. She also qualified for NCAA Division III nationals in the 800.
