Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw Cops Initial Landmark Weekly Award
Sophomore named Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
TOWSON, Md. - Sophomore Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw of the Goucher College women's track and field team was named the Landmark Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon following her performance in the season's opening weekend at the TCNJ Winter Open.
Thornton-Fillyaw, who was a two-time Landmark Athlete of the Week last season, set a school record and ran the third-fastest ever time in Division III in the 600, posting a time of 1:33.87. She also set a school record in the indoor mile, running a time of 5:19.27 to best the old record by over 11 seconds. Between indoor and outdoor, Tanise now owns a total of seven school records, four in indoor and three in outdoor.
The Goucher track and field teams return to action on Friday, January 12, traveling to the Lebanon Valley Invitational.
