Thornton-Fillyaw Breaks Own Women's 800 Record at Patriot Games
FAIRFAX, Va. - Goucher College women's track and field sophomore Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw bettered her own school record and set a Landmark Conference record in the 800 meter run on Saturday at the Patriot Games hosted by George Mason University.
Thornton-Fillyaw ran a time of 2:13.35, bettering her previous program record of 2:15.07 set last season. Her mark also also No. 2 in Landmark Conference history.
Thornton-Fillyaw took first place in the event, besting a field comprised of many Division I runners. Eight of the top 10 and 17 of the top 20 finishers compete for Division I schools.
In the men's 800, first year Pani Marousis recorded a time of 2:02.12 to place 13th overall and fifth among Division III athletes. His time missed the program record of 2:01.82 by just 0.3 seconds.
Goucher returns to action on Saturday, February 3 when it heads to Susquehanna's Frank Colden Invitational.
