Sean Whitfield Breaks Men's 800 Record at Bucknell
LEWISBURG, Pa. - Senior Sean Whitfield of the Goucher College men's track and field team set a program record in the men's outdoor 800-meter run at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium on Sunday.
Whitfield, who already holds the program's indoor record in the 800, ran a time of 1:54.28 to place 46th out of 157 runners and No. 13 among Division III runners. Whitfield eclipsed the previous program outdoor record of 1:57.19 set by Troy Browne in 2011. His time is currently tops in the Landmark Conference.
Sophomore Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw ran in the women's 800 and registered an outdoor season-best time of 2:14.11 to come in 30th out of 137 and No. 9 among Division III runners.
Goucher is set to be in action next weekend at the Morgan State Legacy Meet and the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational.
