Thornton-Fillyaw Breaks Own 800 Record at Hopkins/Loyola Invitational
BALTIMORE - Sophomore Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw of the Goucher College women's track and field team broke her own program record in the women's 800-meter run on Saturday to highlight the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational.
Thornton-Fillyaw took first place with a time of 2:11.02, breaking her own mark of 2:12.23 set at last season's Landmark Conference championship. She also finished just 0.30 seconds shy of the Landmark record of 2:10.72 set by Moravian's Carly Danoski in 2018. Thornton-Fillyaw's time is currently No. 7 in NCAA Division III.
Ray Asiedu finished 11th in the women's 100 with a time of 12.71 seconds. Senior Lydia Bailey had a season-best throw of 32.80 meters in the women's hammer throw.
KeMarco Monger finished third in the men's 400 with a time of 49.91 seconds, just 0.06 seconds off the program record of 49.85. Monger also finished No. 8 in the 200, checking in at 22.54 seconds.
Aidan Kress placed No. 7 in the men's triple jump with a mark of 13.18 meters, and was 12th in the long jump at 6.05 meters.
Goucher has its final tuneup before the Landmark Conference Championship next Saturday, April 27, with the Blue Jay Tune-Up at Elizabethtown College. Etown will also be hosting the Landmark Championship May 4-5.
