Thornton-Fillyaw Lauded by Landmark Conference
TOWSON, Md. - For the fourth time this season and sixth time in her career, sophomore Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw of the Goucher College women's track and field team was named the Landmark Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. It marks her first award of the outdoor season in 2023-24.
Thornton-Fillyaw broke her own school record in the women's 800-meter run at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational on Saturday, finishing first with a time of 2:11.04. That surpassed her previous record of 2:12.23 set last season. The No. 9 time to date in NCAA Division III this season, Thornton-Fillyaw's mark was also just 0.30 seconds short of the Landmark Conference record of 2:10.72 set in 2018.
The Goucher track and field teams return to action on Saturday when they compete at the Blue Jay Tune-Up at Elizabethtown College.
