Landmark Track & Field Championship Leads to Record Breaking Performances
Sellinsgrove, Pa.- Day 2 of the Lanmark Outdoor Track & Field Championship led to record breaking performances. Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw won the 800 meter with a time of 2:05.28. This is not only a new school record but places her number one in the nation for Division III in the event. She also helped the 4x400 meter relay win with a time of 3:50.31. The 4x400 also featured Tamryn Thornton-Fillyaw, Terrica Thornton-Fillyaw, and Nancy Nyadongo. The 4x400 time of 3:50.31 is the new school, conference, and championship record. Freshman, Nyadongo, had two first place finishes in addition to her role in the 4x400 meter relay. In the 200 she won with a time of 24.85 and in the 100 meter she won with a time of 12.10. She now holds school, conference, and championship record in the 100 meter. Aryanna Paulena had a good showing in the women's high jump and triple jump placing third in both. She also clinched first place in the pole vault with a height of 3.70 meters.
In the men's 400 meter hurdle Emmanuel Olarewaju placed fifth. With a time of 55.71 he now holds the school record in this event. He also was apart of the men's 4x400 meter relay that also featured Jair Smith, Jayden Keels, and Jermaine Horsey. In the men's discus Nehemiah Covington placed in the top 10. Keels had another top eight finish in the 800 meter.
