MADISON, N.J. - For a third time during the 2007-08 season, Goucher's Shadae Swan (Baltimore, MD/St. Frances Academy) has been selected Women's Basketball Player of the Week in the Landmark Conference.
The announcement, made today by a conference spokesman, covers the period from Jan. 7-13. The Gophers (7-6, 2-1 Landmark) played two games during that stretch, defeating Merchant Marine, 72-56, and Drew, 64-56.
Even though she was held to four points in the first half, Swan finished with a game-high 28 points in the victory over the Mariners. Against the Rangers, she knocked down 27 points, extending her streak of consecutive double-digit scoring performances to 60 games.
Combined, in the two games the senior guard/forward was 18-for-37 from the field and missed only one of the 19 free throws she attempted. She was credited with seven assists, 11 steals and one blocked shot.
Swan, who also earned the weekly honor for Nov. 26-Dec. 2 and for Dec. 31-Jan. 6, is the leading scorer in the Landmark Conference at 23.6 points per game.
