Boykin Named to Landmark First Team and Awarded Rookie of the Year
TOWSON, Md. - On Tuesday, the Landmark Conference announced the women's basketball All-Conference and season award winners.
First Year Meona Boykin was awarded Rookie of the Year. She led the conference in scoring with an average of 17.5 points per game, which came from 421 points, off 163 field goals, 22 three-pointers and 73 freethrows. She led the conference in steals with 100 on the season (4.2 per game) and collected 150 rebounds. Boykin becomes just the second player in Gopher history to earn Rookie of the Year honors, behind Anise Williams in 2019.
Boykin was named as the only first year on the Landmark All-Conference team. Against Lycoming on January 18th, she recorded a double-double with 28 points, just two short of her season high of 30 against Trinity D.C., and 10 steals. Boykin quickly established herself as a key element of the Gophers basketball team, where she recorded the game high in points for the Gophers 12 times.
