In the first season of intercollegiate play for the women's golf program, the Gophers finished third at the inaugural Landmark Conference Championships back in late April in part due to the performance of first-year Emmie Starchvick (Jacksonville, Ore.) during the weekend.
For her efforts, Starchvick has been named to the 207-18 All-Goucher Second Team, becoming the first women's golfer in program history to officially earn a spot on the team.
Throughout the course of the year, Starchvick helped the Gophers finish in the top five of each event they played in throughout the Fall and Spring, finishing a season-best third place as a team on four different occasions.
That final third-place finish came at the Landmark Conference Championships in late April, where in windy and wet conditions at Susquehanna Valley Country Club the Gophers posted a two-day score of 816 (404-412) to place in third and finish 17 shots ahead of fourth place Scranton.
On the weekend, Starchvick got off to a slow start on Saturday, carding a first round 101. But, on Sunday, she bounced back with an 89 to place fifth overall in the field to nab All-Landmark Conference First Team accolades. Starchvick's final round score of 89 was also the third lowest on the day overall, as well.
Starchvick is the third announced member of the 2017-18 All-Goucher Second Team, joining field hockey senior Sarah Shklanko and men's lacrosse senior Matt Messerle.
The fourth member of the All-Goucher Second Team for the athletics year will be announced on Thursday afternoon at 12 p.m. For more on the All-Goucher Team, click here.
