The fifth and final member of the 2017-18 All-Goucher Second Team helped a first-year women's golf program finish third at the inaugural Landmark Conference Championships in late April, on her way to nabbing All-Landmark Conference First Team honors. That student-athlete is first-year Christina Pevey (Post, Texas).
Pevey led the Gophers on the weekend at the Landmark Conference Championships at Susquehanna Valley Country Club, carding a 93 in each round (in windy and rainy conditions) to finish third overall on the individual leaderboard to earn All-Landmark First Team accolades. On the weekend, Goucher finished with a two-day score of 816 (404-412) to place in third and finish 17 shots ahead of fourth place Scranton.
Throughout the course of the year, Pevey helped the Gophers finish in the top five of each event they played in throughout the Fall and Spring, finishing a season-best third place as a team on four different occasions.
Pevey joins teammate and fellow first-year Emmie Starchvick (Jacksonville, Ore.) as being the first women's golfers to earn spots on the All-Goucher Team. The pair is joined by two men's lacrosse student-athletes (senior Matt Messerle and sophomore Matt Woodson) and a field hockey player (senior Sarah Shklanko) on this year's All-Goucher Second Team.
Beginning on Monday, we will announce the All-Goucher First Team, culminating with the announcement of the All-Goucher Team Captain and the Coach of the Year on Friday.
