Goucher Women's Golf Picked Fourth In Landmark Conference Preseason Poll
BALTIMORE, Md. – The Goucher College women's golf team has been picked fourth in the Landmark Conference Preseason Poll announced on Friday.
Drew University was the unanimous preseason pick with 70 points while Catholic University of America (56 points), University of Scranton (41 points), Goucher (36 points), Marywood University (21 points), Juniata College (19 points), Susquehanna University (18 points) and Elizabethtown College (11 points) round out the eight-tea, poll.
The Gophers finished fourth in the Landmark Conference Fall Preview on October 19. Randi Marshall (La Quinta, Calif./Half Moon Bay) paced the team with a fifth-place standing (95) and Emily Pochet (Royersford, Pa./Pennsylvania Leadership Charter) placed 11th with a round of 97 while Christina Pevey (Post, Texas/Post) (17th place, 103) and Grace Klain (Reno, Nev./Yerrington) (27th place, 127) rounded out the Gophers competitors.
Goucher was without juniors Lauren O'Leary (Potomac, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) and Emmie Starchvick (Jacksonville, Ore./South Medford) at the conferennce fall event, who both were studying abroad in the fall semester.
Pevey has been an all-conference first-team selection in her first two seasons while Starchvick earned a first-team nod as a freshman and second-team recognition in her sophomore campaign. O'Leary was named to the second-team in 2018.
Goucher, who has finished third in the first two Landmark Conference Women's Golf Championships, opens the spring season at the Marlin Invitational on March 21-22 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The Gophers will host the Landmark Conference Women's Golf Championships at Queenstown Harbor in Queenstown, Maryland, on May 2-3.
