Goucher College Announces Change To Men's And Women's Golf Coaching Staff
BALTIMORE, Md. – Goucher College Director of Athletics Andrew Wu has announced that Jan Jedlicka will serve as the Acting Head Coach for the Gophers men's and women's golf program.
"I can't say enough about the job Jan did throughout this academic year," said Wu. "He came on board in a pandemic during a head coach search and kept our programs afloat through the fall and winter. When it was time to compete, he truly learned by doing, and I'm beyond impressed by Jan's commitment to Goucher golf and his development as coaches."
Jedlicka is in his second season with the men's and women's golf teams. A native of the Czech Republic, Jedlicka was a member of the men's golf team for four years at Missouri Valley College. He graduated with a sports management degree from Missouri Valley College in 2020. Jedlicka is working on his Master's Degree at Goucher and is expected to graduate in the spring of 2022.
"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to grow my role with the Goucher golf program," said Jedlicka. "Working with our student-athletes as a graduate assistant has been a rewarding experience over the past year. I am thrilled to continue coaching in an expanded position during a hopefully more traditional season. I want to continue leading Goucher golf in the same direction in which Hunter Brown started it: building the best player development program in collegiate golf. We are looking to keep adding ways to help our players become better in all aspects of their careers in college and collegiate golf."
Jedlicka assisted the women's golf team in reaching new heights in the spring of 2021. The program had three players named to the All-Landmark Conference first team for the first time in team history. The Gophers also notched their best finish in team history at the championships with a second-place standing thanks to a program-record round of 363. In addition, two players earned medalist honors this season.
