Blatter, Tersigni Split Six Goals in Non-Conference LossMarch 9, 2007
WESTMINSTER, MD — Goucher, which opened the season
with back-to-back victories over Villa Julie and Guilford, now owns
a .500 record after bowing to McDaniel, 16-9, today.
The Gophers (2-2) took their only lead on a goal by Kate
Knitter (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) that made the score
3-2 exactly four minutes into the contest, but the Green Terror
(3-0) seized control of the game by scoring the final five goals of
the first half and the first two of the second half.
The Gophers were able to string together back-to-back goals only
once in the second half, but not until Marlo Tersigni
(Leominster, MA/Lawrence Academy) and Emily
Blatter (Lexington, VA/Rockbridge County) tallied the
final two goals of the contest with less than three minutes
remaining.
Blatter and Tersigni supplied the Gophers with three goals apiece,
and Blatter was awarded Goucher's only assist of the contest.
Connie Wuenschel turned in a four-goal, two-assist performance for
McDaniel.
