Lucey Erupts for Career-High Five Goals in 18-7 Triumph

Union Academy) tallied a career-high five goals and
Colleen Cole (Holliston, Mass./Northfield Mt. Hebron
School) turned in a three-goal, five-assist performance in
leading Goucher past Moravian, 18-7, this afternoon.
With the victory, head coach Katie Trainor's Gophers clinched a berth in the upcoming Landmark Conference postseason tournament.
After Moravian (5-9, 0-4 Landmark) got on the scoreboard first on an unassisted goal by Georgia Castellano just :37 into the contest, the Gophers proceeded to outscore the Greyhounds, 11-1, over the next 20:36. The first of Lucey's five goals put Goucher ahead 2-1 after 3:36, the senior midfielder/defender's second made the score 9-2 midway through the first half and her third put the finishing touches on the 11-1 run.
The Greyhounds scored the final two goals of the first half and the first one in the second half to close to within 11-5, but then the Gophers (6-6, 2-2 Landmark) reeled off six more unanswered goals, including Lucey's fourth and fifth of the contest.
Lucey and Cole weren't the only multiple goal-scorers for Goucher: Marlo Tersigni (Boston, Mass./Lawrence Academy) and Mary Lambert (Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) both contributed three goals to the victory.
Brittany Foster (Portland, Maine/Portland) started her 27th consecutive game in goal for Goucher, making a total of 11 saves.
