Reifsnyder Earns Nod on Offense, Taylor on Defense
MADISON, N.J. — Goucher produced two of the 10 recipients of Player of the Week honors from the Landmark Conference that were announced today. Erin Reifsnyder (Austin, Texas/St. Andrews Episcopal), a sophomore midfielder on the women's lacrosse team, and Paul Taylor (San Antonio, Texas/St. Mary's Hall), a junior defenseman on the men's lacrosse team, were recognized for their performances for the seven-day period ending March 11.
Reifsnyder was selected Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week after helping her team, which got off to an 0-4 start, register its first two victories of the season. In an 18-7 triumph over Colby-Sawyer, she scored six times, and followed that up with a three-goal, one-assist effort in a 10-8 win over Shenandoah.
She also picked up eight ground balls, controlled six draws and caused six turnovers by the opponents over the course of the two contests.
Taylor was the choice for Men's lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for being a key figure on a defensive unit that held Frostburg St. and Lasell to a combined total of four goals. In addition to being credited with two ground balls in both games, he forced the Lasers to commit five turnovers, giving him six caused turnovers for the week.
Taylor leads the Gophers in caused turnovers with 18 through the first seven games of the season.
