Gophers Gain Control with Seven Goals in First 12 Minutes
TOWSON, Md. — Goucher gained immediate control of this afternoon's game against Virginia Wesleyan by scoring seven of the first eight goals of the contest. The 7-1 lead after just 12 minutes grew to 10-3 by the end of the first half and the Gophers went on to down the Marlins, 15-8.

Reifsnyder Sticks Four Goals, Picks Up Assist in First Half
TOWSON, Md. — Goucher gained immediate control of this afternoon's game against Virginia Wesleyan by scoring seven of the first eight goals of the contest. The 7-1 lead after just 12 minutes grew to 10-3 by the end of the first half and the Gophers went on to down the Marlins, 15-8.
Anneke Ossorio (Lafayette, Colo./Kent Denver School) provided Goucher with an early 1-0 lead by sticking a free position shot just 2:45 into the game and she added an unassisted goal approximately six and a half minutes later to put the home team up 5-1. Hannah Khin (Portsmouth, N.H./Portsmouth) also supplied the Gophers (3-2) with a pair of goals in the first half, but neither of Ossorio nor Khin could match the offensive production of Erin Reifsnyder (Austin, Texas/St. Andrew's Episcopal) in the opening 30 minutes of play.
Reifsnyder tallied Goucher's second and third goals, sandwiching them around a goal by Nikki Salyers that got the Marlins (1-3) on the scoreboard for the first time. The junior midfielder had a third goal during the opening 7-1 run, later converted a free position shot to put the Gophers ahead 8-3 and then assisted Khin's goal with 1:23 remaining to complete her four-goal, one-assist effort and close out the scoring in the first half.
The Gophers, who finished with a 32-23 advantage in shots, opened the second half with a 4-1 run and assumed it largest lead of the contest on an unassisted goal by Ossorio that made the score 14-4 with 17:15 left to play. Four straight goals by the Marlins knocked their deficit down to 14-8, but Hannah Brown (Pinedale, Wyo./Dunn School) cashed in a free position shot right before the final horn to account for Goucher's 15th goal.
Ashley Shaner (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) went the distance in goal for the Gophers and made a total of 10 saves. Hannah Frallicciardi (Baltimore, Md./Pikesville) also came up big defensively in the non-conference victory as she was credited with four caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls.
