TOWSON, Md. -- Hannah Khin (Portsmouth, N.H./Portsmouth) scored six goals for Goucher in today's game against Marymount, including one off a free-position shot with 58 seconds remaining in regulation that put the Gophers ahead 14-13. Unfortunately, that left just enough time for the Saints to answer, which they did in the form of a free-position goal by Molly Maher with :07 showing on the clock that created a 14-14 tie and sent the contest into overtime.
Just 1:22 into the six-minute extra session, Taylor Johnson put Marymount back in front by sticking a free-position shot, and then 15 seconds later, Stephanie Flood put the Saints up by two when she one-timed a feed from Shaina Crowhurst into the goal.
Those two goals provided Marymount with its final margin of victory as the Saints departed Beldon Field with a 16-14 victory.
Despite outshooting the Saints (7-4), 17-15, the Gophers never led the entire first half. They pulled even at 6-6 on an unassisted goal by Anneke Ossorio (Lafayette, Colo./Kent Denver School) with 1:13 remaining in the period, but 27 seconds later, Marymount went back in front on a goal by Megan McGuirk.
The first four goals of the second half all belonged to Goucher. Ossorio's unassisted goal 1:37 in tied the score at 7-7 and then the Gophers (6-6) went ahead for the first time on an unasisted goal by Khin less than three minutes later.
It wasn't until Goucher opened up a 10-7 advantage that Marymount tallied its first goal of the second half, and by the time Rita Meissner (Yonkers, N.Y./Yonkers) scored midway through the period, the Gophers enjoyed a 13-9 cushion.
The Saints responded with four consecutive goals in a span of just under nine minutes, pulling even on an unassisted goal by Maher with 5:25 left to play.
Ashley Shaner (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) went the distance in goal for Goucher and finished with 16 saves, including two in overtime. Her counterpart, Kiki Niebuhr, made only five saves during regulation, but stopped all three shots the Gophers got off in OT.
