Three Players Account for All 10 of Goucher's Goals
MADISON, N.J. — Goucher finished with an identical number of shots as Drew, but the Gophers could not keep pace with the Rangers on the scoreboard in this afternoon's Landmark Conference contest.
In fact, only three players got into the scoring act for Goucher as the Gophers bowed to the Rangers, 15-10, and were eliminated from contention for a berth in the conference's upcoming postseason tournament.
The Gophers (7-8, 0-3 Landmark) led only once and that was when an unassisted goal by Erin Reifsnyder (Austin, Texas/St. Andrew's Episcopal) provided them with a 2-1 advantage 4:49 into the contest. Anneke Ossorio (Lafayette, Colo./Kent Denver School) tallied the first of her three goals midway through the first half, creating a 4-4 tie, but the Rangers (7-8, 1-2 Landmark) reeled off the final four goals of the period to gain an 8-4 cushion after 30 minutes.
The first five goals of the second half also belonged to Drew, which opened up a commanding 13-4 lead when Nikki Kleiman notched her seventh goal of the contest with 12:13 left to play. Kleiman is the leader in goals scored in the Landmark Conference this season with 75 through 15 games.
Ossorio scored twice, Reifsnyder converted a free-position shot and Hannah Khin (Portsmouth, N.H./Portsmouth) stuck her fourth goal of the contest as Goucher went on a 4-0 run during the final 4:06.
Shot totals were 29 apiece; the Gophers ended up with a substantial edge in ground balls (29-15).
