Eight Different Players Score for Goucher in 17-1 Rout
TOWSON, Md. — It took Goucher less than 12 minutes to make sure that today’s contest against Medaille was well in hand, with the Gophers scoring the game’s first eight goals en route to a comfortable 17-1 victory from Beldon Field.

Eight different players registered goals for Goucher (3-3), which has won its last two home games by a combined 35-7 margin.
Hannah Mae Brown (Pinedale, Wyo./Dunn School) led the Gophers with six points, picking up two goals and four assists. She also had a team-high six ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Emily Lindsay (Silver Spring, Md./James Hubert Blake) opened up the scoring 1:14 into the first half, taking a pass from Brown and firing a shot past Maverick goalie Mia Wagner. Lindsay added another goal in the second half to go along with two assists.
After Rita Meissner (Yonkers, N.Y./Yonkers) made it 2-0 less than two minutes later, Erin Reifsnyder (Austin, Texas/St. Andrew's Episcopal) converted Goucher's only free position shot of the game to tack on a third goal just over four minutes in. Both Meissner and Reifsnyder finished with three goals apiece. Meissner added a pair of helpers, while Reifsnyder now leads the team in goals for the season with 18.
Dani McCreary (Upper Marlboro, Md./Bishop McNamara) and Anneke Ossorio (Lafayette, Colo./Kent Denver School) scored the next goals for the Gophers, giving Goucher five different goal scorers among the first five tallies. Ossorio would eventually finish with a game-high four goals.
The Gophers took a 13-1 advantage into halftime before settling for controlling possession for a majority of the second half. Goucher managed four extra goals after the break, highlighted by a first career strike for Kat Carnevale (Portland, Ore./St. Mary's Academy) to make it 15-1 midway through the frame.
Stefi Perry (Houston, Texas/Klein) added a goal and three assists to round out the scoring. She also tied with Reifsnyder for the team lead in draw controls, finishing with five overall. For the game, the Gophers led 30-10 in shots and 17-3 in draw controls. Emily Gill (White Hall, Md./North Harford) recorded three saves in goal for Goucher.
Denay O'Connor scored the lone goal for Medaille (0-2).
Today's margin of victory was the largest for the Gophers since a 21-2 win over West Virginia Wesleyan on April 27, 2011, while the Gophers allowed only one goal in a game for the first time since a 19-0 shutout of Marymount (Va.) on April 17, 2005.
Goucher remains at Beldon Field for its next matchup, a 4 p.m. tilt against Frostburg St. this Wednesday.
