GRAND LAKE, Colo. — For the third consecutive season, Goucher's women's lacrosse program was recognized for its academic accomplishments by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association.
The Gophers were one of 125 Division III programs named to the 2014 Academic Honor Squad this morning. To be eligible for the award, a team must register a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during its season.
Goucher finished well above the minimum requirement during the most-recent spring semester, as the team combined for a 3.26 GPA under first year head coach Ceri Miller. That mark was the highest for the program since the fall semester in 2008, and it was also the fifth straight semester that the Gophers have had a GPA over 3.0.
Fellow Landmark Conference schools Catholic, Scranton and Susquehanna joined Goucher on the prestigious list. A total of 254 schools were recognized across the NCAA's three divisions, with Division III programs accounting for nearly half of the overall list.
