TOWSON, Md. — The Goucher women's lacrosse program and head coach Ceri Miller have announced the hiring of former Division I midfielder Kristen Bilney as the team's new graduate assistant coach. Bilney joins the Gophers after three all-conference seasons at UMBC.
"I couldn't be more excited to have Kristen join our coaching staff," Miller said. "She has endless energy and enthusiasm, and I can't wait for her to share her knowledge and experiences with the team. I have no doubt that she will do a great job and help bring Goucher to the next level."
Bilney was a four-year starter for the Retrievers, serving as a team captain in both her junior and senior seasons. Her top statistical year came in 2013 as a junior, where she earned America East All-Conference First Team recognition after finishing with career highs in goals (28), assists (10), ground balls (26) and caused turnovers (14).
As a senior, Bilney ranked second on the team with 25 goals, 30 draw controls and 11 caused turnovers, helping her earn second-team all-conference honors. She was also named to the America East All-Rookie team following her debut season. Bilney started 62 of the 65 games she appeared in at UMBC overall.
Bilney graduated from UMBC in May, 2014 with a bachelor's degree in psychology. She was named to the America East Honor Roll in each of her final three years as a Retriever.
A Maryland native, Bilney lettered in both lacrosse and basketball at Mount Hebron High School in Ellicott City. The Vikings' lacrosse team reached two state championships, winning the state title in 2007.
