Jojo Franklin (Denver, Colo./Kent Denver School) set the tone early for the visiting team as she gained possession of the draw control and scored within the first 12 seconds of play. A minute and a half later, Lauren Pirrung (New Windsor, Md./Francis Scott Key) got on the board, which was then followed up by two more goals coming off the stick of Franklin. Stefi Perry (Houston, Texas/Klein) gave the Gophers (2-2) a 5-0 advantage as she scored an unassisted goal with 22:26 remaining in the first half.
After Hannah Bradley tallied Randolph's first goal on the contest, Goucher scored seven straight goals in the next seven minutes of action to take a commanding 12-1 lead. Megan Meluskey (Wilmington, Del./Concord) and Jessica Borucki (Westminster, Md./North Carroll) accounted for five of the team's seven goals during this stretch.
A goal scored by Dana Cavallo with 6:47 remaining in the first was the second and final goal for the WildCats (0-3) in the opening 30 minutes.
Borucki tallied a goal with nine seconds left in the first and was the first player to score in the second half — the two goals were her third and fourth of the contest.
Randolph scored its third and final goal with 16:20 left in the second half.
Franklin led scoring with five goals while Borucki added two assists to her four goal performance. Meluskey finished with three goals and two assists in the win.
The Gophers' defense played lights out — allowing only 10 shots, seven of which were on goal. Franklin was credited with five caused turnovers while Perry added four.
Goucher hosts Randolph-Macon a week from today at Beldon Field. The opening draw is set for 3 p.m.
