Pain Gophers Feel Comes From Stinging 15-6 Loss
TOWSON, Md. — Goucher couldn't find a way to stop the duo of Alicia Hsieh and Alex Lightfoot this afternoon as the pair was involved in eight of Randolph-Macon's 15 goals. Lightfoot assisted Hsieh on seven goals while Hsieh returned the favor on another. When the final horn sounded, the visiting team earned its first win of the season, 15-6.

Lightfoot assisted Hsieh on seven goals while Hsieh returned the favor on another. When the final horn sounded, the visiting team earned its first win of the season, 15-6.
Jessica Borucki (Westminster, Md./North Carroll) got on the board in the first 41 seconds of the game but from there, the tide turned. The Yellow Jackets (1-2) notched seven straight goals over the next fourteen and a half minutes until Jojo Franklin (Denver, Colo./Kent Denver School) scored back-to-back unassisted tallies.
Although the Gophers (2-3) produced more shots, 16-13, and earned one more draw control, 7-6, in the first, they trailed 9-3 heading into the half.
Goucher answered back in the second as Sophie Smith (Lawrenceville, N.J./Madison) scored the team's next two goals to cut Randolph-Macon's lead to four.
Less than a minute after Smith notched her second goal, Megan Meluskey (Wilmington, Del./Concord) added an unassisted goal which trimmed the margin to three.
Unfortunately for the Gophers, that would be the closest they'd get as the Yellow Jackets scored six straight goals in the final thirteen minutes of action.
Kat Carnevale (Portland, Ore./St. Mary's Academy) recorded three caused turnovers on defense while Franklin added two in the loss.
Goucher travels to the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla. this week for the team's annual spring break trip. The Gophers will play two games, one against Babson College on Tuesday and another against the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on Thursday.
