WASHINGTON, D.C. — Goucher couldn't withstand the consistent offensive pressure of Landmark foe Catholic, who recorded 46 shots, 34 of which were on goal, in an 18-3 triumph over Ceri Miller's squad this evening.
- The Cardinals (7-7, 4-0 Landmark) struck early and often as they tallied five goals in the opening 12 minutes of the contest. After Sophie Smith (Lawrenceville, N.J./Madison) gave the visiting team some relief, an unassisted goal with 15:03 remaining in the first, Catholic answered with three more goals, extending the lead to seven.
- Eight minutes prior to halftime, Goucher notched another unassisted goal, this time by Jessica Borucki (Westminster, Md./North Carroll). Unfortunately, Catholic closed out the first with four goals to take a commanding 12-2 lead into the break.
- A goal by Borucki with 22:44 remaining in the second was the final strike for the Gophers (7-7, 1-3 Landmark) in the game. The Cardinals closed it out with six goals.
- Nicolette Crisalli led Catholic with four goals while Laura Dunn, Jenna Van Middele and Ana Brandenburg added two each in the win.
Playoff hopes are still alive for Goucher heading into the final week and a half of the season. The Gophers welcome Susquehanna to Beldon Field on Saturday. The opening draw is set for 12 p.m.
