TOWSON, MD – The Gophers fell to Hood College 17-5 at home, despite a career day for first-year midfielder, Shannon Stull.
First-year midfielder, Shannon Stull (Westminster, MD), paced the Gophers on offense, finding the back of the net three times on three shots.
Fellow first-year players, Gabrielle Umstead (Chadds Ford, PA) and Alyssa Long (Pennsburg, PA), supplemented Stull with one goal each.
Sophomore Rachel Slater and senior Christina Murphy were the leading goal scorers for Hood with five and four goals, respectively.
Junior goalkeeper Bridget Den Boer (Sparta, NJ) had 11 saves and five groundballs during the contest.
Junior Jade Locklear posted a game-high eight draw controls for the Blazers while four Gophers collected two draw controls each.
How It Happened:
- After the Gopher's strong 3-0 start, the Blazers took control of the game with eight consecutive goals to close out the half, 8-3.
- Hood continued to light up the scoreboard with three more goals to open the second half.
- Stull and Umstead provided Goucher with back-to-back goals before the Blazers rattled off six more goals to seal the game, 17-5.
- Goucher had 24 fouls to Hood's four.
- The Blazers outshot the Gophers 38-15
