Women's Lacrosse Held Scoreless in Second Half on the Road

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA – The Gophers fell to the Elizabethtown Blue Jays, 17-1, on the road Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Alyssa Long (Pennsberg, PA) scored the only goal for the Gophers. Senior Claire Lippay (Jenkintown, PA) and junior Elyse Pyle (Bridgewater, NJ) were the anchors of the Goucher defense, accumulating three caused turnovers, each.
Junior Bridget Den Boer (Sparta, NJ) played 60 minutes in goal for Goucher, making 16 saves, falling only two saves short of her career-high set against Shenandoah earlier this year. The junior goalkeeper also led the team with four groundballs.
Junior Carly Thompson and senior Addie Stang each had five points on the day for the Blue Jays. Thompson found the back of the net five times while Stang rattled the cage for four goals. She also added an assist.
How It Happened:
- Elizabethtown went on an eight-goal run to open the game before Long broke the streak for the Gophers.
- The Blue Jays would score four more goals before the end of the first half.
- The Blue Jays scored the only goals in the second half, tallying five goals on the Gophers.
- Elizabethtown had six different goals scorers during the contest.
