TOWSON, Md. - Sophomore Shannon Stull (Westminster, Md.) continued her torrid goal-scoring pace for the 2018 season on the day, netting a pair of goals for the Goucher College women's lacrosse team in their Landmark Conference home opener against Elizabethtown on Friday at breezy Beldon Field.
But, the visiting Blue Jays pulled out an 18-4 victory over the Gophers. With the loss, Goucher dropped to 0-10 overall and 0-2 in the Landmark Conference, while E-Town improved to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in the Landmark with the win.
The game also served as the program's "Lace Up With LAX" event, in which new or gently used sneakers were donated to the Salvation Army of Central Maryland.
On the day, Stull's two-goal performance marked the sixth straight game in which she has scored multiple goals for the Gophers. She has now scored 27 goals for the season for Goucher, which puts her in a tie for seventh overall in the Landmark Conference in goals scored for the year.
Other goal scorers for Goucher were first-year Camryn Agostino (South Setauket, N.Y.) and senior Molly Brenton (Lancaster, Pa.). For Agostino, it was her seventh goal of the 2018 season, while Brenton (who sang the National Anthem before the match started) tallied her first goal of the season (and third of her career) on a successful free position attempt in the second half.
Elizabethtown was led in the win by Madelyn Baker and Katie Thompson, who each scored five goals, apiece, in the victory.
The Goucher College women's lacrosse team returns to action on Saturday, April 7, as they travel to Juniata for another Landmark Conference match-up. Things get underway at 1 p.m.
