Senior Bridget Den Boer (Sparta, N.J.) of the women's lacrosse team etched her name into the program's record books on Saturday, and for her efforts, the goalkeeper has been named the Goucher College Athlete of the Week for the period ending April 15, 2018.
On Saturday against Susquehanna, Den Boer made history, stopping 32 shots on the afternoon for the Gophers. The 32-save effort matched the school record for saves in a game, as Den Boer joins Kathy Zavocki (April 1, 1998, at Mary Washington) and Crystal Butcher (April 10, 1994, vs. Lynchburg) as the only Goucher goalies to ever record at least 32 saves in a game in program history. Den Boer also broke the Landmark Conference's record for most saves in a contest in the match, as well.
The 32-save performance for Den Boer continues what has been an incredible season for the senior in goal. In all, Den Boer has stopped an NCAA Division III leading 218 shots for the year. She also leads the nation in saves per game, coming in at 17.92 for the 2018 season to date, as well.
Den Boer and the rest of the Goucher women's lacrosse team returns to action on Saturday, as they host Drew in their final home match of the 2018 season. The Landmark Conference contest, which will also serve as the programs annual Senior Day, begins at 1 p.m.
