Women’s Lacrosse’s Den Boer Adds to Season Save Total in Loss at Catholic

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senior goalie Bridget Den Boer (Sparta, N.J.) added 12 more saves to her high season total on Wednesday afternoon at Catholic in Landmark Conference play.
But, the host Cardinals rolled over the Gophers by a score of 20-1. With the loss, Goucher dropped to 1-12 overall and 1-4 in the Landmark, while Catholic improved to 9-6 overall and remained unbeaten in the Landmark with the win (5-0).
On the day, with 12 more saves, Den Boer now has made 230 saves for the 2018 season with two matches remaining. NCAA Division III's leader in total saves and saves per game, Den Boer broke the Landmark Conference's record for most saves in all games in a season last weekend, breaking the previous mark of 210 saves set by Moravian's Courtney Rosenberg in 2010.
Den Boer is also coming up on the Goucher record for most saves in a season, which is 262, set by Crystal Butcher in 1996.
Goucher's lone goal on the afternoon at Catholic was scored by sophomore Alyssa Long (Pennsburg, Pa.), unassisted. The tally was the 14th of the year for Long.
The Goucher College women's lacrosse team returns to action on Saturday, as they host Drew in their 2018 home season finale. The game, which will also serve as the programs Senior Day, begins at 1 p.m.
